Wishing Everyone a truly blessed and happy New Year !
Just before Christmas last year we adopted two very special cats from our local animal rescue center the Decorah Humane Society.
These gorgeous kitties are good friends, and are already providing me with so much entertainment, love and inspiration.
This is a new artwork of little Orson doing her favourite thing: chasing anything that moves. I imagine if she could swim, this is what she’d be doing 🙂
She is such an enigmatic and beautiful cat, and is proving to be the perfect muse. She has a fascination for water and loves staring at this fountain…
This is a playful piece using Emily and photoshopped artwork of mine – I liked the pattern motif of Arts & Crafts / poppies with her stark black and white markings.
I’ll be posting more about the new painting soon ~ thanks for stopping by!

This is my latest Tree artwork “Tree of Love”
~ I have a thing for trees, as do so many people. I’ve depicted Trees in many forms and media; they are such integral elements of the environment, and resonate so strongly with humans. They are truly one of the great nature archetypes and possess much symbolism.
~ this lovely image depicts two lovers, growing from separate roots, into one beautiful canopy filled with life.
The print, as well as the original watercolour painting, are available for sale.
“Tree of Life”
This is my business logo, but was originally created as a T-Shirt design, which you can buy here.
So many people loved this design as a tattoo design, which is available with a stencil here.
This powerful image of a woman in a tree has resonted with many women who have bought my art. She represents the feminine divine energy in nature, linking earth and sky. It is availble as a beautiful print here.
I also have made a lovely little whimsical drypoint etching of a Dryad (or tree spirit)
They will continue to inspire me, and keep me company as I journey onward in my creative endeavours!
“Foggy Trees” Pikes Peak, McGregor, Iowa, by my husband – round the corner from our little home..
Thanks for stopping by!
I’ve been pretty busy with some new projects which I’ll be wiriting about soon.
One of them is a new jewelry design of a butterfly / moth hybrid. I’ve nearly sold out of both my Art Nouveau Butterfly and Art Deco Moth jewelry design which come as gorgeous brooches, keychains & choker necklaces.
At the moment I have 10% discount on all my jewellery in my Etsy Shop, so don’t miss out on one of these very unique pieces as I will no longer be making or selling them when they are sold out.
These are some sketches I’ve been looking at for my new design – butterflies and moths make for wonderful subject matter as there is so much variation with wing shape and size.
I’ll post more updates, in the meantime, here are some more lovely jewelry designs that are perfect gifts! They are all available in my Etsy Shop shop with a 10% discount til December 14th.
One of my biggest joys is spending time in my beloved garden. I talk to the flowers, trees, birds, bees and other animals that visit, but there is another little spirit that resides here that is harder to see…
This whimsical fairy was created with watercolours and dried pressed flowers that I picked from my garden: petunia, lilly, rose and pansy petals amongst others. I also included mulberry ink from our beautiful old mulberry tree’s bountiful supply.
You can see the remarkable detail of the petals’ veins in the prints.
She sits amongst the mushrooms and flowers, keeping watch on all the elements that grow in this magical realm.
She is part of an exhibit at The Left Bank Shop & Gallery in my hometown of McGregor, Iowa. The exhibit, “Local Inspiration” features work of selected gallery artists interpreting local themes. She is for sale there, or you can buy a gorgeous archival reproduction print here.
Thank you for visiting, and have a magical day !
A few months ago I posted about a wax carving for my new jewellery design. You can read the post here.
The carving was cast into silver master copies; those were used to create a vulcanised rubber spin cast mold for centrifugal casting in lead-free pewter.
I have made these pewter castings into a range of adorable cat jewelry items and accessories.
The two little twin cats are sleeping with their tails entwined in a Celtic style knot. i was remembering how my two cats used to sleep together…. This is one of the smaller jewelry designs I have attempted – I like it’s simplicity and the fact that it can be translated into quite a few different designs.
Cats remain for me the most delightful animals to depict artistically ~ whether in paint, sculpture, jewelry or etching. Their enigmatic beauty is so peaceful, and being able to wear these totem animals as a piece of jewelry is something quite magical !
These would make beautifully special gifts for a cat lover, and you can purchase any of these on my website shop : LizaPaizis.com
